- How do I become a member of Sheet Metal Workers Local 512?
- No experience is required to start. You join through the apprenticeship: a four-year, 7,200-hour program that combines in-school block-release training with on-the-job hours under signatory contractors, leading to Red Seal certification. Start on our apprenticeship page or contact the union hall.
- What work do Local 512 members do?
- Members work province-wide across Newfoundland and Labrador in HVAC, fabrication, architectural sheet metal, manufacturing and metal roofing, on major builds from the Health Sciences Centre and Hibernia to Hebron and Muskrat Falls.
- How long is the sheet metal apprenticeship?
- Four years (7,200 hours), combining in-school block-release training with on-the-job hours under signatory contractors, leading to Red Seal certification.
- What benefits do members receive?
